| 'A`isha (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "We went out with the Messenger of Allah (from Medina) with the intention of performing Hajj only."
This hadith and others prove that it is permissible for a woman to accompany her husband on hajj conforming to the consensus of Muslims. Scholars have unanimously agreed that hajj is obligatory for a woman if she is capable of undertaking it.
Scholars have differed whether it is a condition for a woman to go on hajj accompanied by a mahram.
According to the preponderant opinion, it is permissible for a woman to go for hajj without a mahram but with trustworthy company. Scholars have unanimously agreed that a husband is entitled to prevent his wife from going for a voluntary hajj. As for an obligatory hajj, the majority of scholars have stated that the husband is not entitled to prevent his wife from performing it.
